Halloween Bucket List

Written by: Sarah Robinette

Are you looking for some fun things to do during the Halloween season? We got you covered! Here is our list of fun things to do to mark off your Halloween Bucket List. I say to myself every year that I am going to do certain things and try something new then it never happens so I am trying hard to do some things I have never done such as make my own Halloween Costume or Throw a Halloween Party.

It can be hard to do it all and trying to have a fun season, but just make a list and do what you can!

We are apart of the Amazon Affliate Program so if you purchase any of the items we recommend we may make a small commission off those items at no extra cost to you!

Here are some ideas to get you started for your Halloween Bucket List

Make A Costume

Going out to buy a costumes is fun but making your own makes it even more creative and possibly much cheaper. You can find items at a thrift store or most any department stores. Home made costumes are much more unique and no one else will have one like yours.

Throw A Halloween Party

Have all your friends come over close to Halloween and be dressed up and have some fun party snacks. You can play some themed games, watch a movie or have some fun spooky dance music playing.

Watch A Spooky Movie

Watching Scary Movies or the classic Halloween movies really gets you in the fall spirit!

Go Trick Or Treating

We love to go door to door trick or treating but we also love trunk or treating as well at our church. Just getting candy is fun for the kids and even adults. We also love going to different areas with trick or treating such as the zoo or downtown. Find some fun unique places to get some candy and do something different.

Go To A Haunted House

Find a fun or scary haunted house to go through to get a good scare this Halloween season.

Have A Halloween Meal

This is something fun to do with family or a group of friends. Have everyone come over in a Halloween costume and then have the whole meal themed in Halloween such as have spaghetti dyed black and then spooky eyes. Pinterest has some great ideas for halloween themed meals.

Halloween Egg Hunt

Since it gets dark so early, why not have a few friends over and have an Halloween Egg Hunt. Instead of Easter Baskets, they use their Halloween Baskets and to look for the eggs they can have a flash light or use some glow in the dark eggs or glow in the dark items to put in the eggs so they can glow. Amazon has Halloween eggs you can grab and put some unique items in there.

Go on a Halloween Drive

Get in the car and look at some fun Halloween Decorations. Ask online where some good houses are fully decorated and drive by to look at them. Bring your fun snacks and have some fun.

Make a Halloween Scavenger Hunt

You can go online to find some fun Halloween Scavenger Hunts that you know your kids will enjoy. Pick out some prizes and let the kids have fun looking around for what they can find.

Wear Matching Costumes

Match with your family, your kids, husband, or BFF! It is so much fun to find people who love the same show or movie as you and becoming the characters for the night!

Have a Halloween Dance Party

There are some super fun halloween music to dance to or to have as background music as you talk to your friends during a party! You can even buy some silent disco headphones and have a silent disco party. What is a Silent Disco Party? The headphones have different channels so you would need to make 2-3 play lists with different songs and when you have on the headphones, you color will light up and you can see which play list you are listening to. It is a lot of fun and even better when everyone is singing and you can’t hear the music. A great way to throw a dance party and not bother neighbors.

Give out Candy

We love to go trick or treating but we sometimes get so much even before Halloween that we need to give some away so make a point to give out candy at home, you may meet some of your neighbors.

Go To A Trunk or Treat

Our church has trunk or treat and we always make a point to go to it and see all the kids and adults dressed up. It is a fun experience for the kids.

Decorate Your Car for Trunk Or Treat

This is on my list to do because I have never participated in a trunk or treat. There are some amazing ideas out there to decorate your car. It is a great way to meet new people and have fun!

Roll Someone’s Yard

This is a classic prank that I have done myself growing up and everyone should do it at least once. Make sure you do it to someone who can take a joke and don’t get to crazy with the toliet paper

Take Good Photos In you in your Costume

If you have an awesome costume, be sure to go out and get some good photos in it and not just a selfie or one in front of your door before you head out. Get ready early then go somewhere and find a good backdrop that goes with your outfit and set up a Tri pod and get some good shots!!

Decorate Your Front Porch

If you don’t decorate any place in your house for Halloween, make sure you decorate your front porch because so many people will be on it to trick or treat!. Make it spooky, funny and creative as well as memorable.

Host A Murder Mystery Party

This is a super fun thing to do for the adults. Amazon has this fun Murder Mystery Game you can buy and have everyone involved and see if you can discover who did it. What a killer time!

Bob For Apples

How long has it been since you played the fun bobbing for apples game? All you need is some water in a huge bucket with lots of apples in it and see how many you can get out using your teeth in a certain amount of time.

Do a Spooky Gingerbread House

I love gingerbread houses at Christmas so I love to find Halloween themed Gingerbread houses during this season as well. These are fun to do no matter the age. You can have a contest with who makes the best or doing it with the kids or during a party.

Carve Pumpkins

Get to cutting and make a cute pumpkin face or any kind of amazing design inside your pumpkin and put it out on your porch. Maybe to make it more fun have prizes to who has the best, funniest, or scariest. Take photos of them and put them on social media to see who wins and have your friends vote.

Paint Pumpkins

I love to paint pumpkins and get creative with mine. Pinterest has so many ideas on there to make some cartoon characters, Disney princesses, or anything you can think up.

Go To A Corn Maze

Go run around and get lost in a corn maze. No matter where you live, you should be able to find one close to you. It is fun to go at night. To make it fun, bring lots of people and divide into teams and set a timer to see who can get out the fastest. Bring prizes for the winners to let them choose where to eat afterwards.

Have a Picnic

Halloween is the perfect time to get out and get in nature and sit in the colorful trees for a fun outdoor picnic.

Go To The Pumpkin Patch

Most Pumpkin patches have so much to do other than just go get a pumpkin. They have hayrides, fall games and animals. We love to get out and try different farms to see what they have so next time, drive and try a new one you may love this year.

Make Boo Baskets

This is something I love to do with my kids. Go to any store you like and grab a cute basket of your choice, then fill it with all kinds of goodies such as, blankets, small home decor, candy, coffee, candles, cups, jewelry. It can be all fall themed, or Halloween themed then we like to put it on their front porch without them seeing us and leaving a note with it. This is fun to do for your adult friends but your kids can get in on the fun and make small baskets for their friends by filling it with coloring books, glow in the dark sticks, candy, books or small toys. The kids can draw photos for them or make a car.
