Terry Evanswood Magic Mansion Home Tour in Sevierville TN

Written by: Sarah Robinette

I bet you have never heard of Magic Mansion in the Smokies? Most locals have never been here and a lot of people drive right by it and have no idea what it is.

Hey guys! My name is Sarah and I am one of the moms on the Smoky Mountain Moms Blog. My husband has been into magic for over 30 years. He has loved going to magic shows anywhere he can and loves to learn all about it.

Magic Mansion is located on Boyds Creek Highway in Sevierville TN. It is about 10 miles from Pigeon Forge. It is right off the main road surrounded by normal homes.

Magic Mansion is owned by the magician Terry Evanswood, he is the longest running show in the Smokies. Terry is currently at the Grand Magistic but he has also had a show at Wonderworks and even his own building and show called which is now the Array theater.

We have loved to see Terry for many years. He has amazing illusions, tricks and keeps adults and kids entertained easily. It is always a must do for anyone.

My husband has been great friends with him even before we got married which is 17 years this year. Terry use to have a home back behind Dollywood and it was always such a privilege to go to his home. Terry use to only give tours of his home to friends and family. I was always so excited to go over there, mostly because it was so neat.

I have never saw a home like his before. I would constantly say “You live here?” It looked like a museum/ fun house. It was what you would imagine a magician would have such as a secret door, a stage to perform in his living room, magic props, a walk thru of memorabilia of his, He loved the Titanic so his bedroom was a replica of the Titanic. It was so cool to see and visit.

Many years later he was able to purchase a very old 1840’s home! This home is full of history and Terry loves history. He has restored the home and worked very hard on it. Not only has it been restored but Terry put his own magical spin on things.

Once you walk through the door you will be in complete amazement of the rich victorian look the living room has. It is so classy and one of my favorite rooms to see. He has a self playing piano many artifacts around to look at.

To your right you will then walk into the sitting room. I love the furniture in there and beautiful decor.

The dinning room is my all time absolute favorite. It is so so so classy, elegant. The first time I saw it I literally gasped!

You can then go upstairs and see all his memorabilia, statues and working but very old props. He has two bedrooms up there that is stunning.

One room is dedicated to P.T. Barnum (the circus) He has all kinds of things to tell the story of him. Lots of history

The other room across the hall is his famous Titanic room. Terry has got ahold of some great artifacts over the years and has lots of stories to tell from here.

After that you will pass through a very cute but small chapel that he has dedicated to our Lord and Savior.

Once you are done there going down the stairs you will see a very big display of Snow White or if it is Christmas, it could be Mary and Joesph.

This small little hallway going down the stairs you will see all kinds of old Disney merchandise, toys and things he has had over the years. (I don’t think Terry throws anything away lol)

This next room is mine and every kid’s favorite. A toy train village. The detail he has in his train room village will make any kid want to get into collecting and building trains. It even has a “firework” show

Yeah, you are still not done with the tour… Remember this is a 1840s home. They have multiple rooms here. I believe he has over 20 rooms in his home.

The next winding path is I like to call the museum part of the tour. You will see all kinds of things from old posters, antiques and everything in between. They are all in cases for you to see.

You can’t miss the super fun Willy Wonka Bathroom. My kids love it. A song plays while in there with bubbles and the umpalomas too!

There is also a dragon that lives under Terry’s stairs. If the dragon is in a good mood, he will open it up to show you!

Your tour ends in the theater with a large, big screen that can roll up and behind it is a stage. Terry will then do a private show for you if you upgrade your ticket, which is totally worth it.

The tour can lasts 2 hours. Tickets are $24.95 for adults and kids ages 5-15 are $14.95 children 4 and under are free. Wanna Learn More Click HERE to go to the site.

Once Halloween rolls around, he does turn the magic mansion into a spooky Haunted House. Don’t worry! It’s classy and fun. Think your traditional haunted house before blood and guts came into the picture.

Then at Christmas time he has the house so beautiful and festive for the Holidays.

This home is so cool, and I guarantee you have never saw anything like it. He is always changing things, building and creating more. He puts so much work into it and gives you so much information and stories that you will leave flabbergasted at what you just saw!
