Christian Bucket List Ideas

Written by: Sarah Robinette

Hello friends! We are Stephanie and Sarah. We are two best friends who have been christians for most of our lives. We are not perfect at all and struggle every day! We have made lots of bucket lists but was inspired to make this list.

We started hearing some of our friends talk about some of the things they have done and we both said to ourself, I want to do that too! We have both been a believer in Jesus since we were pretty young and even grew up in church, but we still have a hard time saying I have done all these things on the list and continue to do them daily. It is a battle to stay on track with everything and no one is perfect.

Your relationship with Jesus is a personal one. If something on the list sparks your interest but you have no idea how you can make it happen, simply ask God to help you to be strong, open doors and find favor in him

Win someone to Christ

This is the best and most rewarding things you can do as a Christian. If you have someone in mind, start by praying for them and asking God to give you the opportunity to share Jesus with them.

Go on a mission trip

I know when we think of mission trips we automatically think of going over seas to a foreign country but there are local mission trips you can go on. Get involved in a local church and ask if they have church mission trips, it could be something as going out to feed the homeless, building houses. It really could be lots of things and being around the people is so rewarding.

Volunteer at church

If you are not involved in church you definitely need to be. Find a local church you love and get involved such as in child care, production, youth ministry, greeters, guest services, parking team, singing on stage, ushers or maybe leading a small group. Ask God where you should serve and watch him work. You meet others and feel more connected in your church.

Volunteer at a Christian organization

There are lots of christian organizations you can get involved in such as feeding the homeless or doing a pantry kitchen, thrift stores or youth ministries.

Read the whole Bible in one year

This is a hard dedication to make but it will be so worth it in the end. My favorite one year bible plan is “The Bible Recap” with Tara Leigh Cobble You can find it in the Bible app. The plan is designed to read the Bible in chronological order. I like that the Bible App can read it to me and I can follow along in my actual Bible or if I am on the go I can listen to it. We all know there are some hard words in there to pronounce so having it read to you in a plus!

After you read a few chapters in the Bible, you then watch a short 7 min video with the host Tara Leigh Cobble doing a summary of what you just read. She explains it so well. The full daily devotional takes about 25 mins a day!!

There are lots of other ones out there but that is the only one I have done. They do have a paper study guide you can buy online or in store.

Pray Everyday

It is easy to pray when everything is going wrong or maybe it is easy for you to pray when everything is going right, but pray EVERY day. Give God thanks and also just spend some time being quiet and letting him speak to you.

Have a personal relationship with Christ

This is the most important thing you can ever have in your life is a personal relationship with Jesus. This is achieved by praying and reading your Bible. God loves to show you his love and the more you seek him the more you will find him.

Go to church every week

I know everyone wants to go to church every Sunday, but Sundays are no longer “Holy” which means businesses are still open and we all have to work or we have different obligations. If that is the case, try to find a place where you can on Wednesday night or maybe a different service time.

Visit the Holy Land

I know everyone would love to visit Israel. It is such a special place and to think you can go and walk where Jesus walked is amazing, but as I am writing this, we know it is not safe to travel to that location. There are other places you can visit such as Greece where Paul walked, Egypt and Rome

Share Your testimony openly

Do you have an amazing testimony about how Jesus has changed you and your life? Be bold and share it! Ask God to give you the boldness you need and the right people to share it to.

Stand Firm in my belief

I think we all want to be the type of Christians that when things are not going our way that we can still see God in the storm. It is very hard, I know sometimes God seems silent when nothing is happening when and how we want it to go but God is always working and he will help you through it.

Invite my friends to church

Do you go to an amazing church and it is so good, but you still can’t get the courage to invite your friends or even strangers to church? That is when you pray God will open the door and give you courage to ask them to join you. Take the opportunity to invite them to your church’s fun or seasonal events. Start slowly and then ask them to come one Sunday with you.

Memorize scripture

There are so many amazing scriptures to memorize. The benefits of learning scriptures is when you are in a difficult situation and you are seeking God through it, He will remind you of his word to give you encouragement. It is also important to know God’s word so you can help others in situations.

Journal about my struggles and blessings

Our pastor always talks about journaling and how it is so important. Can you imagine journaling about, let’s say, trying to find a spouse and then when you are happily married you can look back and just remember where you were in your life and how God provided. It helps build your faith and you can look at your life and see so many blessings.

You can then pass that journal on to your kids and they can see how God worked in your life. Write your struggles and blessings in the book.

Worship God with music

Have you ever heard a song and it just hit you with everything you needed to hear. Take the challenge and listen to only christian music for a whole month. There are some amazing songs out there with all kinds of genres. You can find the right artist that fits your style. Christian music have come a long ways and it is not all slow and sad. Give it a shot!

Attend a Christian Marriage conference

Does your church have a marriage conference? if not, there are lots of marriage conferences online you can go and attend. Make sure they are God centered. They are so rewarding and fun! Every marriage needs this!

Seek Christian guidance counselor

If you have a situation going on in your life that you need advice and wisdom. Seek out some guidance from someone on staff in your church or find a christian therapist. Sometimes we need a kick in the pants about what to do and need helping seeing it from a spiritual point of view.

Attend a Sunrise Service

Mostly we see sunrise services around Easter, but how amazing would it be to attend one.

Give to someone in need

I know we all want to help others but how amazing would it be to be God sent. You know when someone isn’t letting it known they need help but when God puts it on your heart to give to someone just when and what they needed.

Tithe 10% of your income

This maybe hard for some or easy for most but God asks of us to give him only 10% of our income back to him. Take the challenge to try it for a month and see what happens. If you can’t start at 10% start at 1% then 2% and so one until you can do 10% God knows your heart and he will always come through, sometimes it may not be financially but it could be spiritually, physically or mentally! You will see a change from God!

We hope this list encourages you and even inspires you to create your own bucket list of thing you want to accomplish.
